- in 2000 i was quite taken by this photograph (Mise en scène) that somehow captured ellison's state of mind and elaborated on it... urban isolation inserted in a big city illusion of social richness...

- Born in Caguas, Puerto Rico and raised in Brooklyn, New York, I returned to the island from 1960-65. 1970 moved to the Lower East Side from Brooklyn. 1978-80 briefly back to PR, exhibiting/freelancing as a designer/illustrator. Returning to NY and back to the Lower East Side and then for a surrealist winter ferrying back and forth to Staten Island before settling in 'El Barrio' in upper Manhattan. Divided time between NY and PR since 1990 - occasionally due to other commitments the sojourns to ny are too far between. I've represented PR in numerous biennials to include Sao Paulo, Brazil; La Habana, Cuba, Cuenca, Ecuador and Santo Domingo, Domincan Republic and exhibited in Europe, Latin America, Caribbean and USA. My work and efforts have occasionally merited rewards and recognitions: Gold Medal for participation in the Dominican Republican and Honorable Mentions in Puerto Rico and Venezuela. Our design studio, zalto, founded with my artist wife, Annex Burgos provides design services in the fields of art and culture.
