the illusion of genius…

picasso was the first artist that i had a blind respect for as a young man (guernica et al)… and while working for Andy Warhol's Interview in the 70's and as a result of his daughter Paloma's presence while being interviewed for the publication i began hearing of his shortcomings as a father and consequently his use of the women that 'decided' to 'share his life'… since then i look at my colleagues and know that 'to me'  - 'the artist' and the 'the human being' are on many occasions two different things. consequently the illusion of the created image can be like the verbal rhetoric that justifies a lot of today's conceptual art… an exercise that goes nowhere…
